Our Mission

Indiana Innocence Project is dedicated to helping innocent prisoners obtain their freedom and rebuild their lives,

while educating toward change to prevent wrongful convictions.

What we do in more detail: Investigate cases of meritorious innocence claims; Secure DNA testing when biological evidence exists; Advocate for the release and exoneration of innocent individuals; Provide services to exonerees; Advocate for criminal justice change to prevent wrongful incarcerations; Sustain academic collaborations for student learning.

Thanks to the support of the Herbert Simon Family Foundation and Audiochuck, prisoners in Indiana have the opportunity to obtain representation from Indiana Innocence Project.

Indiana Exoneration Map

  • This map represents exonerations across Indiana, each the result of tireless advocacy, legal work, and investigative efforts by various innocence organizations.
  • The data come from the National Registry of Exonerations, whose research is essential to the innocence movement.
  • Each exoneration links to a detailed account of the individual’s story and credits the people and organizations whose efforts helped secure their freedom.
  • While these cases were not handled by the Indiana Innocence Project, we honor the work behind them and share the mission they represent.
  • With your help, the Indiana Innocence Project hopes to put more exonerations on the map.
