We’re unbelievably grateful for the outpouring of support for the kick-off of the Indiana Innocence Project on August 17th.
Gathering with our exonerees, their families, former students, board members, staff, and friends of the organization was such an honor. Thank you to everyone who made this night possible through their presence and contributions!
Awards were presented to those who have made a special impact in innocence work. The Kristine Bunch Spirit of Justice Award was presented to Jason Flom and accepted in absentia by exoneree and friend Michelle Murphy. The Glenn Pinkins Philanthropy for Justice Award was presented to the Herbert Simon Family Foundation. Fran Watson, Dr. Mark Perlin, and Dr. Judith Rybak also received awards for the notable work they have done to help free the innocent.
The event concluded with INIP President Fran Watson reading the names of the exonerees present, inviting them to join board member Attorney Scott Montross at the front to be acknowledged for their resilience and strength, their presence meaningful to all in attendance.
Overall, the kick-off not only celebrated achievements in the fight against wrongful convictions but also honored the ongoing commitment to justice and support for those affected.
Historic change is coming to Indiana in August! Indiana Innocence Project will launch at our opening fundraising event on August 17, 2024. This is a monumental event and we want you there to celebrate alongside exonerees who have been freed from their unjust incarcerations. This will usher in change for criminal justice reform and help the innocent who remain wrongfully imprisoned in our state.
