On August 12, 2025, the Indiana Innocence Project (INIP) was accepted as the 74th and newest member of the national Innocence Network — a monumental milestone for the INIP. Beyond handling individual cases, this membership amplifies INIP’s voice in advocating for critical legislative reforms to prevent wrongful convictions in Indiana’s justice system. Innocence organizations provide pro bono legal and investigative services to wrongfully convicted individuals, and work to reform the criminal legal system and support exonerated individuals after they are freed. Since 2005, Innocence Network members have collectively helped exonerate more than 850 people.
